From June 27 to 30, 2023, the National Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Green Development Center, organized two training courses on the application of renewable energy and energy saving for relevant central-level agencies and selected provinces nationwide.

Within the framework of the task Assessment and Development of Guidelines for the Application of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Rural Water Supply in Vietnam, the Green Development Center – serving as the consulting unit – conducted a comprehensive survey to assess the current status and potential for applying renewable energy and energy-saving solutions in rural clean water supply systems. Based on the survey results, the consulting team developed a report evaluating the current conditions and potential for implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency measures in rural clean water supply facilities. Drawing from the survey findings, the consultants also drafted a guideline document on applying renewable energy and energy-saving practices in rural clean water supply systems.
Under the framework of the project, the consulting team was tasked with organizing two training workshops to introduce the contents of the guideline document and to gather feedback from relevant stakeholders in order to finalize the document prior to its official release.
During the workshops, experts from the Green Development Center provided central-level agencies and selected provincial authorities with comprehensive information on the application of renewable energy and energy efficiency in rural clean water supply systems. Specifically, the sessions covered: A general introduction to the application of renewable energy in rural clean water supply systems; Guidelines for implementing solar energy applications in rural clean water facilities; Instructions for assessing the current status and potential for energy efficiency in these systems; Guidance on implementing energy-saving measures in rural clean water supply infrastructure.
